Private consultations are offered for individuals or couples who have already or are currently participating in Wise Heart in-person or online classes and workshops.  If this is you, a private consultation will be most helpful if you are actively learning and practicing Mindful Compassionate Dialogue (MCD).

You might want a more subtle understanding of a concept or skill. Or, you might want help seeing where you are getting stuck with a particular skill. You might also want to apply what you are learning to a specific context and want help with how to do that. To benefit from this work, you value mindfulness, self-responsibility, shared vulnerability, learning, and transformation.

What's it all about?

Private consultations are not therapy. They are a form of mentoring and support with regard to the personal transformation tools and relationship competencies of MCD.  As such they are best utilized as a supplement to the classes you are taking with Wise Heart.

In a typical session, you might begin by describing your experience of integrating and applying the consciousness and skills of MCD. We might mindfully work through the five elements of MCD (observation, thoughts, feelings, needs, requests) and engage in empathy, honest expression, and self-empathy with regard to present moment communication and relating.  We might use mindfulness experiments to help identify the obstacles in your practice as well as the resources you bring. You will most likely make use of the feelings and needs list and pause as needed to become more embodied in your experience through brief guided mindfulness.  

Here are some examples of questions you might bring to a private consultation:

  • How can I remember to use an anchor when I need it most?

  • What can I do when I notice I am blocking nourishment around a particular need?

  • How can MCD help dissolve racial prejudice?

  • Can you help me figure out how to express what I want in a particular situation?

  • What would repair look like in my relationship with…?

  • I know I am in an enmeshed relationship.  What simple practices would help me change this dynamic?

  • I am looking for help with setting better boundaries in particular situations.

  • What would empathy sound like in this situation?

  • We keep having the same kind of argument. What will help us get unstuck? How can MCD help with this?

At the end of each consultation you will be given specific practices to do on your own so that you can continue to learn and integrate personal transformation tools and relationship competencies of MCD.

Details

Sessions are 60 minutes. All sessions are conducted via video conferencing - Zoom. You can record sessions on your own device for later reference.

Sessions are $130 for non-members, and $95 for members. If you are a current member, please contact us before registering so that we can let you know how to receive the discount when you book.
